CB160 raffle at the 2007 BVGP!

Purpose: To help offset the costs of putting on this wonderful event. The goal is to maintain entry and practice fees at the current level, keeping the awards dinner at no charge to and supporting the racers and AHRMA making the Bonneville Vintage GP a world class event. Without the racers there would be no Bonneville Vintage GP! Step 1: Assemble a knowledgeable team to build a race ready, AHRMA legal CB160. Acquire the best donated parts and services available to create a jewel of race bike that is safety wired, tech inspected, and ready to grid. Step 2: Acquire the bikes and pick the best parts from them all. After a country wide search, the collection started to assemble at the Moto Classica AHRMA Races at Willow Springs, CA. Two of the more complete bikes-a CB160 and a CL160 were purchased and transported from Florida to the AHRMA races at Talladega. From there Cindy and Andrew Cowell hauled the bikes and spares to the Moto Classica April 27th at Willow Springs, CA. There they joined two CB160 rolling chassis along with additional spares donated by Paul Piskor and Jason Lindquist. They were then transported to the restoration garage in Park City, Utah. He and co-builder-Jeff Smith of Ironhorse Motorcycle Works in Salt Lake City have already torn down 5 CB160 motors and graded them 1-5 picking the best parts for the project bike. New pistons,bearings, gaskets, etc have all been ordered. You will be able to watch the progress of the build on this website. Step 3: The bling-You can't build a beautiful race bike without cool trick parts. The Fancy but effective Air filters were donated by K&N. We beefed up the intake manifolds for a lifetime of racing and added extra engine breathing. This little bike is going to scream with it's brand new Sudco Carbs-Sudco was so accommodating, they even included an assortment of jets - Thanks for your donation: Sudco.com. The CB-160 packed up in it's container at Forward Air on it's way to it's new owner- raffle winner JP Leon. The good new's is that JP is an AHRMA racer and promises we will see our little guy on the track! Can't wait Detail of the amazing custom paint job donated by Dan at Worth Customs. Your right-these are not stock stoppers-cooling holes just say your not only fast but you can stop and get a kiss from the trophy girl too! Mike at Vintage Brake totally tweaked these brakes checking run-out and working his magic on the linkage, new bearings and brake shoes. Brett at Glass from the Past supplied all the bodywork including the most aerodynamic belly pan on the track! Wait till you see what else he sent! UPDATE - 7/06/07 Metal Masters in Murray, Utah takes on the task of turning 40 year CB-160 metal into works of art! Scott and Mark have some serious polishing equipment and quick turn-around-got all this back to us in less than a week. Who would ever guess stock CB-160 parts could look this good?  Rumour has it will add another .035 mph to the top end! NOS pistons/rings-head was decked and cylinders bored .20 over by American Automotive Machine in Salt Lake City, Utah. New lightweight Platinum sealed gel-cell battery. Precision welded and modified CL pipes with machined NOS header clamps will give you all the cornering clearance you need. UPDATE - 6/21/07 "You call this a piston"? "Now this is a piston - how about a little overbore"? Damn-those Works shocks look good-think they'd notice if we kept them for ourselves?
